{"id":1327,"date":"2020-02-02T09:12:03","date_gmt":"2020-02-02T08:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/peugeotvintage.com\/?p=1327"},"modified":"2021-02-16T19:59:04","modified_gmt":"2021-02-16T18:59:04","slug":"de-slag-op-de-kerbstones-van-stw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/peugeotvintage.com\/nl\/collectibles\/2020\/02\/02\/de-slag-op-de-kerbstones-van-stw\/","title":{"rendered":"De slag op de kerbstones van STW"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Peugeot in de STW.&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">E<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ven terug in de&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">historie&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">van de Duitse toerwagenracerij<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">:<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">STW staat voor Super Tour Wagen-cup<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;en was in de tweede helft jaren negentig de&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">opvolger van de&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">D<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">uitser topper DTM<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Na een geweldige tijd in de jaren zeventig en tachtig met Ford, BMW, Porsche<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;en later ook Audi,&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Alfa Romeo en Mercedes, was de DTM te duur&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">geworden&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">en leed aan bloedarmoede. Alleen Opel met zijn Calibra en Mercedes met zijn C<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">klasse&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">waren nog deelnemer. DTM ging aan zijn eigen grootsheid ten onder<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, maar<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;STW was een&nbsp;<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">waardige<\/span><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;opvolger.<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In de eerste plaats was het goedkoper en voor een&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">veel&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">grote<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">re<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;groep deelnemers bereikbaar<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, net zoals DTM ooit begonnen was.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Een diversiteit aan merken<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;met&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2018<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">echte<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;toerwagens<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;oftewel opgepepte&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">vierdeurs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;sedans. Opel met de Vectra, Audi A4, BMW 320, Honda Accord, Nissan Primera en Alfa Romeo met zijn 156<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, maar<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;dan een heel andere dan de oude, brede DTM-Alfa 156.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Peugeot stapt in<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Twee jaar nadat STW was ge\u00efntroduceerd,&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ging ook&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Peugeot deel<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nemen<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;in het inmiddels flink gegroeide&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Duitse&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">toerwagenkampioenschap.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Vanwege de hoeveelheid toeschouwers en de e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">norme aandacht van de televisie<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;was STW&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e9\u00e9<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n grote<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, rijdende&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reclamespot.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Laurent Aiello was de onbetwiste eerste rijder van het Franse fabrieksteam, nadat hij meervoudig winnaar was&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">geworden<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;van het Franse Super Tourisme Kampioenschap met de Peugeot 405 M<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">I<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">16.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In 1996 won hij drie keer een STW<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wedstrijd en eindigde als derde in het kampioenschap.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Het grote Peugeot<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">succes kwam in 1997<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;met elf&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">overwinningen<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;van de&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">twintig&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rondes<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">en&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">acht&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">pole pos<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tions van de&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">tien mogelijkheden. En natuurlijk:&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Peugeot&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">werd&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">STW-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kampioen<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1997<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">! In 1998 was het kantje boord:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">z<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">es&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gewonnen wedstrijden en tweede in de eindstand van het kampioenschap. In de laatste race op de Hockenheimring<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;werd Aiello<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;jammerlijk verslagen door BMW<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">coureur<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">en ex-motorwereldkampioen Johnny Cecotto.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Geweldige reputatie<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Laurent Aiello bouwde inmiddels gestaag aan zijn reputatie van beste toerwagencoureur ter wereld.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Zijn t<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eamgeno<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ten waren zeer e<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">r<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">varen Duitse rijders.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Altfrid Heger was&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in 1996 zijn teamgenoot, een echte routinier<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;afkomstig van BMW.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hij maakte Aiello vertrouwd met alle Duitse circuits en voegde veel toe a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">an de set up van de nieuwe 406.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Da<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rna kwam&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">J<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00f6<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rg von&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Ommen.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hij had vanaf<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eind jaren zeventig zijn sporen verdiend met verschillende Fords (Es<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cort en Capri) van het Zakspeed<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">team.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Beide&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rijders&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">waren&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">bekende namen&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">uit de Duitse toerwagenracerij.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Geen succes in Engeland<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Echter, de 406 was nooit succesvol in het&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">prestigieuze<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;BTCC (<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">British Touring Car Championships<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">)<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Zo goed als het in Duitsland ging, zo moeilijk was het<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gelijktijdig in Engeland. Net als in het voetbal staan de Engelse toerwagenraces bekend om hun rauwe, pure, harde competitie. Engelse&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">coryfee\u00ebn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Patrick Watts&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">en Tim Harvey<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kon<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">den<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">nog geen&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">race&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">winnen in de&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">krachtig<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">st<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e auto&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">van&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">het&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">deelnemersveld: een 406 met maar liefst 310 pk!<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Maar ze waren f<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">raai<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;om te zien:<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in 1996 fel<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">rood met een blauwe band met 406<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">logo, daarna&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2013&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in 1997 en 1998<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;\u2013 werd het<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;een soort&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">British<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;racing green met gouden opschriften<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">h<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eel stijlvol en toch nog&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2018<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">racy<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Het eerste succesvolle racecomputerspel op de markt was in die tijd Toca 2, een kopie van het BTCC<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kampioenschap op je schermpje thuis.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hoewel uw&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">verslaggever<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;het&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">toentertijd<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;vaak heeft geprobeerd, kon z<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">elfs in&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">dit&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">computerspel<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">de 406 geen potten breken.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Gouden greep<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Met&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Laurent Aiello&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">deed Peugeot een gouden greep. Hij&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">werd&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eind jaren negentig&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">de beste toerwagencoureur ter wereld genoemd, aangezien hij het Franse Super<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;T<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ourisme<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Kampioenschap, het Duitse STW \u00e9<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n het Engelse BTCC<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">kampioenschap op zijn&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">naam&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wist te schrijven.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Een toerwagen-triple van&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">onge\u00ebvenaard<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;niveau<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">!&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">De&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">BTCC-<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">titel&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">behaalde hij&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">overigens niet met&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">de tweeliter<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, vier<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">cilinder Peugeot&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">406&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">met 16 kleppen<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, maar met een ander merk<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Formule 1<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">aspiraties&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">had Aiello&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">wel, maar&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hij werd&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">als derde rijder van McLaren<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">gepasseerd door&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">zijn<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;veel ervarener&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">landgenoot Phili<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ppe Alliot.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;Later&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">testte hij ook nog&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">voor<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Jordan<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">. Beide merken reden&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">overigens&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">met Peugeotmotoren. Slechts&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00e9\u00e9<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n keer was Aiello met zijn&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">406 in<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Nederland aan het<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">werk te zien<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">i<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">n 1998&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">te Assen, waar&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">hij&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">beide&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">manches&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">won.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Afscheid van Peugeot<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Na het behalen van de BTCC<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">titel keerde&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Aiello<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">in 2000&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">terug naar Duitsland.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hij<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;verscheen in dezelfde gele kleur&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">als<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;zijn vertrouwde 406 aan de start, echter nu met een Audi TT in plaats van de Peugeot.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">B<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ier<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">brouwer&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Hasser\u00f6der<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;was opnieuw zijn hoofdsponsor.&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">De&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Audi&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">TT&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">bracht hem&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">talloze DTM<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&#8211;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">overwinningen<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, met als bekroning opnieuw&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">de&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">DTM<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-titel<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;in 2002<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Daarnaast startte&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Aiello<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;in de Le Mans<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">-s<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">eries in Europa en Amerika met een Audi R8. In deze sport<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">scar<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">klasse had hij zic<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">h<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;in 1998<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;al bewezen door de 24 uur<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;van Le Mans te winnen met de Porsche 911 GT1. In 2004 en 2005&nbsp;<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">reed hij met Opel Vectra<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">&nbsp;ook weer in het DTM<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
