Zo komt hij nog wel eens een parteltje op vier wielen tegen. In de VS is een Peugeot in het straatbeeld geen dagelijkse verschijning. Veel Peugeot\u2019s in de VS zijn op de schroothoop beland terwijl enkele auto\u2019s behouden zijn gebleven. Zo ook de witte 505 handgeschakelde 2.3 turbodiesel uit 1982 van Sameer. Misschien is het zonnige klimaat van deze staat in de VS en de zorgzame eerste eigenaar wel de redding van deze 505 geweest. In een online interview vertelt Sameer uitgebreid over de 505 die zijn hart heeft gestolen. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Hoe is deze 505 bij jou in de garage terecht gekomen?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cDe vorige eigenaar was een bekende van mij. Hij wilde de 505 \u2013 met MOMO stuur &#8211;\u00a0 nooit verkopen. Het was de eerste dagelijkse auto die ze konden veroorloven nadat de familie naar de VS was ge\u00ebmigreerd. De auto werd door hen in 1984 gekocht en ze reden er mee tot 1995 met in totaal 119.000 mijlen op de teller, omgerekend zo\u2019n 191.000 kilometer. Daarna kwam de auto stil te staan voor een hele lange tijd. Keurig opgeborgen in de garage. Ik heb heel vaak geprobeerd de auto te kopen maar dat lukte niet. Tot vorig jaar. De auto is in uitstekende staat, al heb ik wel de nodige onderdelen moeten vervangen na 25 jaar stilstand. Het is een unieke auto en hij rijdt echt subliem&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;De auto is nu in topconditie. De witte lak is onaangetast en de heerlijke stoelen met blauw velours zijn nog ongeschonden ondanks de vele kilometers die de auto heeft gereden. Je kan zien dat de auto met zorg is behandeld. Dat is ook wel begrijpelijk. De eerste eigenaar emigreerde naar de VS en deze auto werd als grote luxe gekoesterd. Deze auto is ook de eerste kennismaking met een 505. Als ik op pad ga met de auto dan kijken mensen vaak twee keer naar de auto. Veel Amerikanen hebben nog nooit van Peugeot gehoord, laat staan er een gezien. Inmiddels zijn klassieke Peugeot\u2019s een zeldzaamheid in de VS dus liefhebbers wonen vaak niet om de hoek maar zijn verdeeld over verschillende Staten. Ik ken een paar bezitters met een 504 of een 505, sinds ik lid ben geworden van de Peugeot Club Noord Amerika.\u00a0 Leden zijn verdeeld over het hele land. Eigenaren waarmee ik contact heb zitten op enkele uren, soms dagen afstand. Maar met een Peugeot is dat natuurlijk een aangename rit.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Peugeot voor het leven?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIk heb mijn hart vel verslingerd aan Peugeot. Echter, ik heb ook een bedrijf om te runnen en ik kan mij geen grote collectie permitteren. Op het moment dat vorige maand een koper kwam met een heel goed bod heb ik de auto doorverkocht. De 505 naar een liefhebber aan de oostkust gegaan en maakt deel uit van een oldtimer collectie. Een prima bestemming voor deze leeuw.\u00a0 Inmiddels ben ik wel weer op zoek naar een nieuwe Peugeot. Liefst een exemplaar om op te knappen. Die ga ik wel vinden want er zijn nog wel wat Peugeot\u2019s in de VS die een opknapbeurt kunnen gebruiken.
