Deze diva stond met haar kijkers model voor de intrigerende blik van de 504. <\/span><\/span>Hij wordt onthuld tijdens de autosalon van Parijs in september 1968 en heeft een carrosserie die in eigen huis is ontwikkeld, al was Sergio Pininfarina daarbij wel komen helpen. Alle vier de wielen zijn onafhankelijk geveerd en de 504 is rondom uitgerust met schijfremmen. De 1.796 cc viercilinder-motor (82 pk) is een doorontwikkeling van de motor van de Peugeot 404. Amper een jaar na zijn introductie is hij al leverbaar met brandstofinjectie en stijgt het vermogen naar 97 pk. In datzelfde jaar (1969) werd de 504 verkozen tot Europese \u2018Auto van het Jaar\u2019 en natuurlijk komt dat de verkoopcijfers ten goede. De productie stopt pas in 1983 en dan zijn al ruim 2,8 miljoen 504\u2019s gebouwd.
