Het was een van de vele bedrijven in Europa die bestaande auto\u2019s aanpasten naar een nieuwe vorm en daarmee hun naam verbonden aan een automodel. Autobleu deed dat bijna 20 jaar en had heel even een primeur op de Autosalon van Gen\u00e8ve in 1967 met de Peugeot 204 Autobleu. Het bleef echter bij een prototype.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Autoliefhebbers Maurice Mestivier en Roger Lepeytre richten hun bedrijf in 1950 op aan de Rue Aumont-Thi\u00e9ville 15 in het 17e arrondissement van Parijs. De productie van auto\u2019s begon in 1953 onder de merknaam Autobleu. De autoproductie eindigde aanvankelijk in 1958. Het bedrijf bleef bestaan \u200b\u200bals leverancier en op het gebied van motortuning tot 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Het avontuur bij Autobleu begon met &nbsp;het bouwen van auto\u2019s op basis van Renault modellen en dat duurde tot 1958. Daarna specialiseerde de firma zich in auto-accessoires. Maar er werd nog een uitstapje gemaakt met de Peugeot 204 in 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tijdens de presentatie van de Peugeot 204 ontstond het idee aangepaste variant op de markt te brengen. &nbsp;Autobleu ging bestelde een van de eerste exemplaren van de 204 cabriolet die in 1967 werd gelanceerd .Vervolgens wisten ze ontwerper Pietro Frua over te halen om er een fastback-coup\u00e9 van te maken. Frua had zijn sporen al ruimschoots verdiend bij Fiat en hij stond in die jaren bekend als de ontwerper van Fiat en Maserati.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pietro Frua reageerde meteen enthousiast en wist pijlsnel het ontwerp te realiseren. Terwijl de eerste 204 cabriolet modellen in februari 1967 van de productieband rolden lukte het Frua en Autobleu in maart 1967 de 204 Fastback op de Autosalon van Gen\u00e8ve te presenteren. &nbsp;Het resultaat was een impressie van wat het productiemodel zou moeten worden. De \u2018top\u2019 was van plastic en enkele weken na de autobeurs zou Frua nog enkele stijlelementen toevoegen. Maar het publiek kon zich tijdens de Salondagen vergapen aan een bijzondere coupe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Onder de motorkap had Autobleu zich uitgeleefd. De motor was aangepast &nbsp;en voorzien van Weber carburateur van 40 mm, een gemodificeerde uitlaat, nokkenas en speciale pijpen. In totaal kwam de krachtbron uit op 70 pk en dat was 17 pk meer dan op een basis 204. De auto lustte een flink slok benzine en had een top van 160 km\/u. De aanschafprijs lag veel hoger dan een 204 coupe GT en daardoor werd het geen verkoop hit.
