In 1949 organiseert de Regionale Automobiel Club West de&nbsp;\u2018Rallye&nbsp;des&nbsp;Tulipes\u2019, gestart in Frankrijk, wat leidt tot het succes van de&nbsp;Tulpenrallye&nbsp;met 159 equipes.&nbsp;Gatso&nbsp;was betrokken maar het harde werk werd gedaan door Lex van&nbsp;Strien, Jos van Calsteren,&nbsp;Jaques&nbsp;Lioni, en&nbsp;\u2018Mr.&nbsp;Tulpenrallye\u2019&nbsp;Piet&nbsp;Nortier.&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De eerste\u00a0Tulpenrallye\u00a0in 1949 is een sterrit met\u00a0maar liefst\u00a0159 auto&#8217;s aan de start, wat de organisatie enthousiast maakt. Uitdagingen voor het klassement zijn in het begin lastig, maar het evenement groeit. En Peugeot is er vanaf het begin bij. In de archieven vinden we\u00a0aanvankelijk\u00a0de 203 terug op foto\u2019s en vanaf\u00a0eind\u00a0jaren \u201950 de 403. In 1953 worden Graaf Hugo van Zuylen van\u00a0Nijevelt\u00a0en Frans\u00a0Eschauzier\u00a0de eerste Nederlandse winnaars. Vanaf 1954 ontwikkelt de rally zich tot een\u00a0steeds\u00a0uitdagender\u00a0evenement en na 1959 wordt het aantal aanlooproutes verminderd.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De\u00a0Tulpenrallye\u00a0wordt in de jaren &#8217;60 beroemd in Europa, met Monaco als keerpunt. Commerci\u00eble belangen leiden tot felle concurrentie. In 1965 wordt de amateurklasse ingesteld, en financi\u00eble uitdagingen ontstaan in 1966. Nieuwe sponsoring en professionalisering volgen. In 1968 behoort de\u00a0Tulpenrallye\u00a0tot de belangrijkste rally&#8217;s van het EK. Financi\u00eble moeilijkheden en veranderende regelgeving blijven een uitdaging. In 1973 wordt een nieuwe organisatie opgericht, maar het initiatief mislukt. In 1974 en 1975 worden geen\u00a0Tulpenrallyes\u00a0georganiseerd.\u00a0Vanaf 1976 neemt de STAR-organisatie de rally over, met drie succesvolle edities. Discussies over proevenverkenning leiden tot protesten. Na 1978 stopt STAR, en de AMAC neemt het over. Onder leiding van Kees Stoel wordt het evenement verder geprofessionaliseerd. Na moeilijkheden in de jaren &#8217;80 eindigt de\u00a0Tulpenrallye\u00a0in 1991.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">De AMAC besluit rally&#8217;s te organiseren voor het FIA Europees Kampioenschap voor klassieke rallyauto&#8217;s, maar na twee edities stopt dit concept. In 1994 keert de rally terug als regelmatigheidsrally voor klassieke auto&#8217;s vanuit Noordwijk. Het concept slaat aan, en de derde bloeiperiode begint, waarin recreatief racen populair wordt.&nbsp;In 1999 wordt stilgestaan bij 50 jaar&nbsp;Tulpenrallye&nbsp;en loopt de route vanuit Noordwijk naar de&nbsp;Funkturm&nbsp;in Berlijn en van daaruit weer terug naar Noordwijk.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In 2013 wordt de&nbsp;zestigste&nbsp;editie gevierd met een route van Noordwijk naar Nice. In 2015 overlijdt Kees Stoel. De afgelopen jaren is de 203 weer terug te vinden in het deelnemersveld. Vooral omdat de&nbsp;Tulpenrallye&nbsp;een retro karakter heeft gekregen.
