Ruim 1,2 miljoen voertuigen van dit type rolden van de band bij Peugeot en in alle denkbare carrosserievarianten. De meest exclusieve 403 is toch wel de cabriolet. Hoewel er maar 2.043 exemplaren van zijn gebouwd, is het toch voor veel mensen een herkenbare auto. Dat komt omdat de 403 cabriolet jarenlang het vertrouwde vervoermiddel was van Columbo, de populaire Amerikaanse detective uit de gelijknamige TV-serie. Dat er relatief weinig 403 cabriolet\u2019s zijn verkocht is niet zo vreemd. De auto was twee keer zo duur als een gewone berline. Nu, ruim 60 jaar later, is deze 403 cabriolet een gewild verzamelaarsobject.
