In 1953, Nefkens opened a car repair shop at Lijnbaansgracht 189 in Amsterdam. This location had previously been a blacksmith shop, built in 1921, and served as a factory for NV Brandt’s Machinefabriek en Constructiewerkplaats (Machine Factory and Construction Workshop). The building was renovated and expanded to accommodate the car repair shop of Peugeot dealer J.A.M. Nefkens NV. The company had begun in the 1930s on Weteringschans and later moved to Eerste Jan van der Heijdenstraat before settling on Lijnbaansgracht.
